New Generation Church

Our Story

Founded by
Pastors Michael & Annette Tackett

New Generation Church, originally named New Generation Worship Center, was founded by Pastors Michael and Annette Tackett. In February 1998, Pastor Tackett felt God’s call to start a new ministry and vision in Salyersville, Kentucky. The first services were held in the living room of the Pastors’ home, then moved to the second floor of a rented building, with a membership of only 30.
In 1999, Pastor Tackett gave up his job as a strip mining foreman to go full-time in ministry. He literally helped build the church himself, working late nights to advance God’s vision, much like Noah building the ark. Annette was by his side every step of the way, passionately leading efforts to open the church bookstore and provide materials that would equip and inspire the congregation. Together, they continued their education—Pastor Annette earned her master’s degree in Theology, while Pastor Tackett earned master’s degrees in both Theology and Counseling from Life Christian University.
By God’s blessing, a new 12,500-square-foot facility was constructed in less than two years, with site work beginning in the fall of 1999 and completion in October 2000. As the church grew, additional projects were undertaken to meet the needs of the congregation. In 2001, the New Generation Christian Bookstore and Gifts was opened and later expanded. A garage was completed in 2005, and classrooms were added in 2006 for the growing Children’s Ministry. By 2009, a porte-cochere was added, and in 2015, a Family Center was built to better serve the congregation and the surrounding community.
Pastor Tackett completed his life’s work when he passed on October 28, 2025. He loved the church and its people deeply, desiring nothing but blessings, prosperity, and for everyone to experience all that God had to offer. He wanted the congregation to be educated in God’s Word and empowered to go out and share His message with others.
What many thought was impossible became reality because it was part of the vision God gave the Tackett family. Evangelist Emmett Spencer prophesied that this church would be a “lighthouse set on a hill,” drawing people in and impacting lives. Today, New Generation Church continues to grow and expand, guided by God’s hand and the faithful support of its members, serving not only Salyersville but communities throughout the surrounding region.

History of New Generation Church Logo

After the Lord gave Pastors Michael and Annette Tackett the vision to name the church New Generation Church, they began seeking God for a logo that would visually express the heart and purpose of the church. The result is a powerful image filled with meaning.

The hands of God the Father are shown gently embracing a nest, symbolizing His protection, care, and guidance over the new generation. Inside the nest is the picture of a generation being nurtured, strengthened, and prepared by God. Above the nest are two doves—representing Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, and the Holy Spirit, who was sent to be our Comforter and Guide.

Together, the logo represents a new generation being raised up in God’s care—rooted in Christ, led by the Holy Spirit, and prepared to serve faithfully in the church. It reflects our heart to disciple young believers, equip them with truth, and send them out to live as bold followers of Jesus who impact their families, their church, and their world.
